Infection is one of the leading cause of neonatal mortality as well as morbidity in neonatal intensive care unit all over the world. Lack of standardization and failure to maintain aseptic techniques during procedures contribute to healthcare –associated infections. Aseptic technique is collection of medical practices and procedures that help protect patients from infections caused by bacteria, viruses and fungi. This session is designed to perform frequently performed blood, urine and CSF sampling procedures in NICU focusing on aseptic techniques.
